no idea, but i'd love to know!
Actually, i'd love for Clearwire/Sprint to roll out the 4G Wimax here... it's live in Baltimore already! |

| Since my last inquiry, I took the risk, got the iPhone, and my 3G signal has been much better than my old Sprint EVDO. (And, with FIOS at home and at the pool, I can surf all I want.) |

| I didn't have any luck with 3G at Apple Valley / Brian Point Road when I borrowed my brother's iPhone to test it out. I still want one though. Have fun with the new toy. |

At our location on Bonds Retreat, I can get 3G until I go inside the house - then it's EDGE, which is better than dialup. I'm using an HTC 8525...

|

Last fall I decided I wanted to get an iPhone. I'd never had a cell phone before and I was concerned that AT&T's coverage in the Moyaone area might not be very good. I intended to get rid of my landline, so it was important that the cell phone work well from home. The maps that AT&T provides online showed good reception, but knowledgeable people told me that there can still be pockets of dead area within a generally good reception area.
I took the chance and got the iPhone and AT&T account and I've had very good reception from my location at the corner of Apple Valley and Laurel, generally "five bars" from anywhere inside the house.
If you are going to rely on your cell phone as your only telephone at home, of course you need to be sure it works well from your home location. (When away from home, you take your chances like anyone else.)
Since I have a working iPhone, I would be happy to stop over at anyone's house and let them try it out from their location, which would be the acid test of their reception of AT&T's signal. Just send me an email and we can set up a time: denniswebb@verizon.net
I think some cell phone plans allow you to cancel in the case of poor reception, within some time period that gives you a chance to try it out. Ask about this before signing up, just so you will know if you have such an option.
